TradingView Indicators

Best indicators for silver.
Built for XAGUSD.

Standard indicator settings fail on silver because XAGUSD is thinner, wider, and more volatile than most forex pairs. This guide covers which TradingView indicators work on silver, the settings to change, how SilverTrading's custom Pine Script stack filters signals, and how to install the same logic on TradingView, MT4, and MT5.

Why standard indicators fail on silver

Silver's range profile breaks generic indicator settings harder than gold. XAGUSD often tracks XAUUSD direction, but with beta: when gold trends, silver can amplify the move both ways. That means wider ranges, larger percentage swings, more aggressive wicks, and faster momentum changes.

RSI overbought at 70 and oversold at 30 is too narrow for active silver sessions. XAGUSD can push beyond those levels and keep running, so a basic RSI signal often tells traders to fade the exact move they should be following. Standard MACD 12/26/9 is usually too slow for silver acceleration. Bollinger Bands at 2 standard deviations are often too tight because silver routinely stretches beyond them during momentum bursts.

The fix is not adding more indicators. The fix is silver-specific calibration: wider momentum thresholds, faster MACD settings, gold correlation awareness, London and New York session filters, and ATR-based stops that respect spread and slippage.

Signal stack

SilverTrading's custom indicator stack

SilverTrading uses a four-layer approach instead of a single indicator trigger. One condition can be fooled by a silver wick, a gold-led metals spike, or thin-session slippage. Four independent filters make the signal more selective and keep the chart focused on higher-quality XAGUSD setups.

Layer 1

Gold correlation filter

Silver tracks gold with beta. Signals favour XAGUSD moves that align with XAUUSD direction instead of chasing disconnected silver spikes.

Layer 2

Fast momentum filter

RSI uses 85/15 and MACD uses 6/18/4. The faster, wider logic respects silver acceleration without triggering on every noisy candle.

Layer 3

Session filter

Signals focus on London and New York when metals liquidity is strongest, while accounting for thinner silver conditions versus gold.

Layer 4

ATR and spread control

ATR period 8 reacts faster to silver range expansion, while spread and slippage checks suppress trades when XAGUSD is too thin.

When all four layers align, the indicator plots the entry, an ATR-based stop-loss, and TP1, TP2, and TP3. The signal is not a black box: gold correlation, silver momentum, session timing, and volatility-adjusted risk must all agree before the chart marks a trade.

Backtest

Backtest vs standard indicators

XAGUSD H1, January to June 2026 backtest. The custom stack takes fewer trades with higher quality. Standard indicators generate too many silver signals in poor conditions, then give back performance through larger drawdowns and weak reward-to-risk.

Top indicators

Top 5 TradingView indicators with silver-specific settings

RSI, MACD, EMAs, Bollinger Bands, and ATR are useful on silver only after the settings respect XAGUSD volatility. The standard numbers below are not bad formulas. They are bad defaults for silver.

IndicatorWhat it measuresStandard settingsSilver-adjusted settingsBest used for
RSIMomentum70/3085/15 on silverAvoiding early reversals when silver amplifies gold momentum
MACDTrend strength12/26/96/18/4 on silverFaster intraday confirmation for XAGUSD acceleration
Moving AveragesTrend direction50/20020/50 EMA on silverStaying closer to silver price action without chasing every wick
Bollinger BandsVolatility20, 220, 2.8 on silverAccounting for silver's wider percentage moves
ATRVolatility measurement148 on silverReacting faster to silver's range expansion and stop distance needs

The point is not to worship one indicator. The point is to stop dragging generic forex or gold defaults onto a silver chart. Silver breaks every standard setting harder than gold because of its beta. What works on XAUUSD can fail worse on XAGUSD unless the thresholds are wider, the momentum logic is faster, and the stops account for thinner liquidity.

Platform choice

Platform comparison

TradingView is the cleanest environment for visualising silver signals and testing Pine Script ideas. MT4 remains popular for fast broker execution and familiar discretionary workflows. MT5 is stronger when the priority is advanced testing, newer architecture, and multi-asset work.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What are the best TradingView indicators for silver trading? +

The best TradingView indicators for silver are RSI, MACD, EMAs, Bollinger Bands, and ATR when their settings are calibrated for XAGUSD. SilverTrading combines volatility-adjusted trend, momentum, gold correlation, session, and spread-aware filters into one silver signal stack.

Why do standard RSI settings fail on silver? +

Standard RSI uses 70/30 as overbought and oversold. Silver can overshoot those levels harder than gold because XAGUSD often amplifies gold moves. SilverTrading uses wider 85/15 logic so the indicator does not fade strong silver momentum too early.

What makes SilverTrading indicators different from free TradingView indicators? +

Free indicators usually apply generic settings to every market. SilverTrading indicators are coded specifically for XAGUSD with gold correlation awareness, London and New York session filters, ATR-based stops, 85/15 RSI thresholds, and spread and slippage controls for thinner silver conditions.

How do SilverTrading indicators generate entry and exit signals? +

SilverTrading waits for four layers to align: gold correlation confirmation, fast silver momentum, London or New York session timing, and enough ATR-based range after spread conditions are accounted for. When the stack confirms, the indicator plots the entry, stop-loss, TP1, TP2, and TP3.

How often do SilverTrading indicators generate signals? +

The custom stack is designed to take fewer, cleaner trades. On XAGUSD H1 it typically identifies 12 to 18 qualified trades per month because it filters out low-quality silver signals during thin liquidity, wide spreads, and disconnected price action.

How do I install custom Pine Script indicators on TradingView? +

SilverTrading indicators are invite-only TradingView scripts. Request access through SilverTrading, accept the invite in TradingView, open an XAGUSD chart, then add the SilverTrading Signal Stack from your invited scripts list.

Can I use TradingView indicators on MT4 or MT5? +

TradingView Pine Script indicators cannot be copied directly into MT4 or MT5 because MetaTrader uses MQL4 and MQL5. SilverTrading provides separate platform builds: Pine Script for TradingView, .ex4 for MT4, and .ex5 for MT5, with the same silver-specific logic adapted to each platform.

Do SilverTrading indicators repaint? +

SilverTrading signals are designed for confirmed conditions, not hindsight chart decoration. Like any TradingView script, live candle behaviour depends on the selected confirmation setting, but final plotted signals are built to avoid repainting after confirmation.

What timeframe works best for silver indicators? +

SilverTrading is built around XAGUSD H1 confirmation with lower-timeframe execution available for experienced traders. H1 filters reduce silver noise while still reacting fast enough for London and New York volatility.

Can I combine SilverTrading indicators with my own indicators? +

You can, but the stack is designed to work as one system. Adding another RSI, MACD, or signal tool can create conflicting instructions. If you use another indicator, keep it separate and do not override the SilverTrading risk levels.
